Tuina (therapeutic massage, pronounced “twei nah”) is a form of bodywork very similar to osteopathy as it ensures the correct alignment of the skeleton for the normal functioning of the nerves.
Pressure is applied to acupoints, meridians and groups of muscles or nerves to remove blockages that prevent the free flow of 'Qi'. Blockages lead to pain, swelling and the build-up of toxins, which can evolve into different health problems.
At Eu Yan Sang, Tuina is performed by selected TCM physicians, instead of massage therapists. Each session is customised to the individual’s condition, based on the physician’s assessment. Hence, Tuina technique may differ across physicians.
